Miami Dade County- Miaimi, FL- Hakeem Roys is no stranger to his community as a young leader of his generation, but some may be surprised that he has a familiar talent, and passion for one of the music industry's most controversial genres. They say, "never judge a book by it's cover", and Mr. Roys is a prime example of that statement. As an active leader in the Broward, and Miami-Dade county communities, an active student of Miami Dade College (North), and President of the popular "Black Student Union" (BSU) it seems he has his hands full,.., But, Mr. Roys seems to just be getting started-Also, an aspiring conscience rapper, it's no doubt that the name Hakeem Roys will soon be heard among the nation.
As a silent humanitarian of his community, Hakeem makes it his business to stay involved, and connected with the youth- his musical artistry/talent has been compared to rappers such as"Nas, Common, and David Banner". The "Communities of Hard knocks" can never have too many leaders, and Haleem Roys has taken his rightful position of being one of them, and taking on his responsibility to inform, educate, and empower the youth, and young adults of Broward, and Miami- Dade Counties.

Although his messages are delivered through a familiar channel that has been shunned upon for it's negative, and degrading exploits of women, sex, and drugs; Hakeem has found a way to use it's platform to send out a positive message instead. Unfortunately, Hip-Hop has even been linked to the brain washing of our youth, but like a few of many rap artist, Hakeem uses the same Hip-Hop to try to save that same youth in hopes that the foundation, and popularity of the hip-hop industry gets their attention, and effects them in a more positive way that may change the way they think-As a result ultimately change the direction their going. There's no debate that today's (Hip-Hop) sends out the wrong messages, and hasn't had the positive effects on inner city, minority communities since the 80's.

With the ongoing efforts of Artist/Activist like Hakeem Roys, Nas, David Banner, Common, Chance the Rapper, and Kendrick Lamar Hip-Hop might have a chance to redeem itself, and set a new positive standard for the genre after all.
