Woman's dream becomes a reality by opening residential rehabilitation center in Cocoa, Florida

Latice Wilson, a Brevard County resident, and single mother has always had a passion for helping people--she always knew that there was something greater inside of her. She had a vision to own her own group home — and recently, her dream became a reality. The proud owner of Hope House United, Wilson opened a APD group home at 2339 Scotland Road Cocoa Florida, where she provides Residential rehabilitation, Life Skills, and Personal Support as well as other services.

The home currently has 5 rooms available, including a single room. Wilson's efforts were greatly welcomed by the community as neighboring residents attended the open house on Aug 17.

"You can't always see what God is doing in your life but it doesn't mean he is not working. When your mindset changes and you come into agreement with his will being done in your life. You can right a check because that's one deposit that won't bounce. He will finish the good, perfect, and pleasing work that he started in you. Don't ever think its to late or he won't do it for you because he will. Just say yes and yield your way and embrace his".

Wilson’s group home has drawn multiple compliments on her passion, and dedication which she attributes to the greatest commandment, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind--Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself". Wilson simply has been blessed with a God given heart to simply love people.

“You are stronger than you think. We were created in his image. We are a representation of God. Stay connected to the source and see his power be made strong in you,” Wilson said.

Other gifts, and passions she utilizes include ministering, and mentoring. An Elder at Oil of Joy Ministries, Wilson serves in ministry under the leadership of Apostle Shauna Brown Jackson.

Wilson’s warming and uplifting personality has made her a very approachable person. She's looked up to by many within the community, and is one troubled souls seek to acquire peace. Wilson wins the hearts of all whom comes into contact with her. The proud mother of three head strong, and successful children, Xzavier, a senior in highschool anticipates going to college after graduation, Kayk, a Hope House assistant, and employee at Devereux Behavorial Health has a great future ahead of her, and Aerial, the head coach of the woman's basketball team at Melbourne highschool, and a full-time county case worker also has a promising future. Wilson beems from the admiration of her offspring.

“She is a delightful woman of God,” said Ms. Ross, “She definitely has a passion for what she does, really comfortable around people.

The path to owning my own business, and opening a group home wasn't at all what I expected. Finding out how tedious the process was gave me a new found respect for business owners, it wasn't easy, but it was worth it, Wilson said, especially because she looks back on when it all first started, and can now see the fruits of her labor, and be proud.

“Some of my friends asked me how did I do it with everything else I had going on in my life”, Wilson said. “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me". If there is a will, there’s a way. I love a challenge, and I am blessed to see it all come together.”

After committing 22 years to Devereux Behavorial Health, Wilson knew this was the field for her, but she also knew there was more that needed to be done, and with that focus, she set out to fullfil that need.

“I've always had the vision, I knew there was something greater in me that needed to be unlocked. I held on to my faith, continued to trust God, and held him to his promises. Every step I would take I would seek his guidance",” Wilson said. “It’s been an amazing journey.”
