Brevard county teen left for dead after hit-and-run accident

According to MELBOURNE, Fla (WOLF FOX 35)-A Cocoa family is seeking justice against the person who hit their teen age daughter, and fled the scene. The Florida highway patron was called immediately after the incident took place, which was after midnight on April 14. The accident reportedly took place at the corner of south Burnett road and Brophy blvd. When they arrived they found 16 year old teen Tyriauna Smith on the side of the road upon being struck by a vehicle.

The teens sister told police that Tyriauna was walking home from visiting with a friend, the friend reported that Tyriauna leaned over to tie her shoe, and that's when she was struck. Family members said the teen has undergone four surgeries since the accident, but she's still not out of the clear. Her mother stated that the doctors at Holmes Regional Medical center in Melbourne have to repair her pelvis; in which most of her lower body was left mangled when the car drug her on the pavement.

The highway patrol said that witnesses of the accident described the car as a white, or silver passenger car, possibly a two door car with dark tented windows. Smith said she was informed that the car may have had custom rims as well. The family is seeking justice, and ask that anyone with any information, please contact the local authority.
